Unanswered Questions

The program Unanswered Questions, designed for solo accordion combines contemporary commissioned works with music from Leoš Janáček – the first series from On an Overgrown Path.

First published 1911 in complete form, the pianocycle from Janáček works up autobiographically the early death of his daughter Olga. Its late-Romantic language leads to modern age and achieves by the accordion transcription a certain plasticity. Highly emotional and from different perspectives, the resulting works approach to the tragic life story. Existential questions are concerned, just as the very personal unanswered questions from Olga in her life.
